CAIR-Oregon Inaugural Banquet

CAIR-Oregon Inaugural Banquet

Please attend CAIR-Oregon’s inaugural banquet featuring Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Friday, Jan 24.

Founded in 2017, CAIR-Oregon is the first Muslim civil rights organization in OR. One of their major accomplishments of last year is passing the Hate Crime Reform Bill which other states are seeking to emulate now.
Please see the invitation below from Zakir Khan, Board Chair of CAIR-Oregon

Dear Community Members,

We are writing on behalf of the Oregon chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Oregon) to invite you to our inaugural banquet. Our banquet will feature Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and entertainment will be provided by Libyan comedian Mohanad Elshieky. Join us as we celebrate Muslims, civil rights and all that CAIR-Oregon and our supporters have accomplished in the past two years.

At our 2020 banquet, we’ll be coming together to celebrate and build off of the past two years—during which we lead the charge in passing Oregon’s SB577 Hate Crime legislation. SB577 has been hailed as an exemplar and already Arizona and Colorado are seeking to emulate it. During a time when Muslims in Oregon are facing hate crimes at an alarming rate, CAIR-Oregon continues to fight for justice for all marginalized communities.

We have several tiers of tickets available, including a limited number of Pay As You Can tickets to make this event accessible. For those who have funds available, we are also facilitating sponsorships to ensure as many community members can join us as possible. Details can be found on our event page: Please note that tickets will not be sold onsite, and there will be no admission without a ticket. Ticket sales close on January 19, 2020.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and we hope to see you there!
